MARCH 2021 - MONDULI DISTRICT, NORTHERN TANZANIA

Network of Women (NOW) debut of our first project with Paint the Globe Foundation was in the Monduli District of Northern Tanzania. Together we were able to deliver feminine hygiene products and art supplies to the Maasai Village. We successfully distributed over a year’s worth of feminine hygiene products and sewable fabrics to 65 women in the community. The premiere of the Ubibi Bags can be seen in the film, “Kutoa Kwa Boma: To Give To the Boma.”

Currently, this Maasai tribe is building a school for all the children (including girls) living in the village. Normally, Maasai girls are educationally marginalized. The village elders understand that girls’ education secures the future of the village. The donation of the feminine hygiene products was requested by the younger women in an effort to empower themselves by making effective decisions based on their needs. Tanzania is a country where only 52% of the children are enrolled in secondary school, and even fewer complete it. World Bank Data reports that less than one-third of all girls in Tanzania graduate. The Ubibi Bag allows girls to continue their education uninterrupted.
