END PERIOD POVERTY CAMPAIGN 2022

Complete Success!

The End Period Poverty Campaign 2022 is wrapping up by donating to local college students. We are ready to donate 154 Ubibi Bags to female students at Southern University and Louisiana State University on January 12, 2023. Thank you for all of your donations and support for this project. Network of Women NOW has collected more than 3500 tampons and 10,000 sanitary pads for our Ubibi Bags, which we will donate to help students this spring semester. These feminine hygiene products will allow students to focus on classes and a positive college experience. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Without your support it would be impossible to complete our mission. Give today and see how your contribution transforms the lives of more women and girls.

In summary,  the goal of this campaign is to execute a fundraising event that includes a feminine hygiene supply drive component for support of future projects in Louisiana.   The eleven-day campaign honors the International Day of the Girl Child.  The focus of this event is a four-part series called,  “End Period Poverty.” The series is hosted by Network of Women NOW to engage the Louisiana State University and Southern University in our mission.

We are committed to and believe in our mission.  We truly want you to understand our motivation for launching this campaign and panel discussion. Based on our research, we wanted to highlight some of the compelling reasons of having an End Period Poverty discussion.

1.     There is a national tampon shortage. Soon other feminine hygiene products will be unavailable as well.

2.     A lack of access to feminine hygiene products causes women and girls to miss an average of 30/45 days per year of work/school.

3.     Post Covid, most women can’t afford feminine hygiene products in addition to other basic household items, i.e food.

4.     Households with more than 1 menstruating female often must share a limited supply of disposable pads per month. This means that females are only allowed to use an average of 1 pad/tampon per day during their cycle.

5.     In the absence of clean feminine hygiene products, females are using old rags, newspapers, and plastic bags during their cycles.

The End Period Poverty Campaign 2022 expanded our reach in to the Louisiana area. The Campaign successfully donated 154 Ubibi Bags to students on Louisiana State University and Southern University campuses. Network of Women NOW will continuously maintain our mission by supplying women and young girls with basic human needs.  The Ubibi Bag donation giveaways will offer menstruators more options for period products.
